KNOWLEDGE: We are committed to producing research about the ideas, attitudes, decision making, and lived experiences of urban youth, especially as it relates to their passion and creative engagement. Urban youth are creating, generating, making and developing newness every day. Combining that passion with entrepreneurship can allow young people to increase their social and creative awareness and meet needs throughout their communities and around the world.
VOICE: Unlike any other urban emancipation movement, we amplify the perspectives of creative young people daily without censorship or control. We have built a space on the Internet where urban youth can speak for themselves about the issues that concern them. Empowering young people to use their innate acumen and abilities, and combining those with reasonable investment and encouragement can change lives.
ACTION: Informed with urban culturally-specific knowledge, we work to mobilize youth and their allies to make positive change and build the nation within which they want to live. Engaging youths as creative investors can build new energy, security, wisdom, and trust within a community and throughout the nation where they belong. Operating in this multicultural environment, the Ripped Jeans Nation movement opens up dynamic and democratic spaces for marginalized and displaced urban youth cultures. Programs specialize in channeling young people away from personally destructive and anti-social behaviors to improved self-esteem, inter-communal co-operation and social engagement.
